Reimbursement of part of a new hire's regular wages during the training period. You do not document your extra training costs.
Federal rule: up to 50% of wages, up to 75% under the criteria in 20 CFR 680.730. Washington policy 5606 allows boards to go above 50% up to 75% if they document the reasons. Pierce sets 75%, 65% or 50% by size. Spokane caps at 50%. PacMtn says typically up to 50% for up to six months.
The employer, by reimbursement. You pay the trainee's wages as usual.

- For rates above 50%, the board weighs employer size, participant barriers, training quality, wages and in-demand status
- Employer holds a Washington unemployment insurance account and workers' compensation coverage
