Georgia Apprenticeship Tax Credits and Employer Incentives Explained

Georgia pays employers directly for registered apprentices through the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). Its state program, the Top State for Talent Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship Program (TSAP), pays up to $5,000 per registered apprentice, for up to 10 apprentices, per its policy manual (the Apprentice Georgia page says up to $10,000 per completed apprentice, so confirm with TCSG). A separate federally funded incentive, ITAP, pays $2,000 per apprentice. As of September 2026 both application windows are closed, so plan for the next round. TCSG's 22 technical colleges can sponsor your program and teach the classroom part.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Georgia Apprenticeship questions.

Is there a state tax credit for apprenticeships in Georgia?

TCSG's apprenticeship pages list grants and incentives, not a tax credit. Federal WOTC, a general hiring credit, lapsed for hires who start after December 31, 2025, unless Congress renews it.

SOURCE: IRS.GOV
Can I use WIOA on-the-job training for apprentices?

Yes, in some cases. Federal rules let a WIOA OJT contract be made with a registered apprenticeship sponsor. Your local board decides.

SOURCE: ECFR.GOV
Can I stack Georgia apprenticeship money with the Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund?

Yes if each source pays different costs. TCSG's example: apprenticeship incentive for registration and payments, training fund for classroom instruction or credential testing.

SOURCE: DROPBOX.COM
Why do TCSG pages show different dollar amounts?

The Apprentice Georgia page mentions up to $10,000 per completed apprentice for up to five apprentices. The July 2026 TSAP manual says up to $5,000 for up to 10. Use the manual and confirm with apprenticeship@tcsg.edu.
