Texas Apprenticeship Tax Credits and Employer Incentives Explained

Texas has no per-apprentice wage subsidy paid to employers. TWC funds Registered Apprenticeship through grants: a $15 million Healthcare Apprenticeship Initiative that employers apply for directly (awards up to $1,000,000, first come, first served), and related-instruction money that goes to the college, school district or apprenticeship committee that runs your classroom training. The broader Apprenticeship Expansion money goes to boards, colleges and school districts, not to single employers.

Does Texas pay employers a wage subsidy for each apprentice?

Not as a standing program. The money goes to healthcare apprenticeship projects, classroom instruction grantees and intermediaries. The one employer tax refund, up to $2,500 per apprentice, is on the Tax Credit page.
